Steamship Response Alaska
Steamship Response (ASR) provides environmental protection and
support for Alaska marine commerce through effective, cost-efficient
marine casualty response in full compliance with the federal
and state oil spill planning statutes. Specifically, ASR offers
a vessel spill contingency plan that meets the requirements of
the new, comprehensive Alaska state regulations. Effective spill response is not just a product of technical expertise but also a function of efficient infrastructure --an infrastructure that permits the movement of equipment and people under the demanding conditions imposed by "Alaska realities". Forty strategically located ASR Incident Management Team responders are partnered with Alaska oil spill cooperatives to provide the equipment, personnel and professional competency needed to meet the Alaska challenge. The initial responders are in-turn backed up by the O'Brien Group, an international spill response management corporation with a team in Anchorage, allowing a sustained response for major marine casualties. O'Brien Group ASR provided incident management for the Alaska Marine Highway System in the successful refloat of the M/V LeConte, which grounded on Cozian Reef, Southeast Alaska, May 10, 2004. |
